Tatworth Community Crop Production Project

   Thank You!

The Project wishes to thank the people who have worked so hard on and for the Project, people who have donated young plants ready for us to plant and for other donations. Not necessarily in order yet (!) they are .....

Sam Forrester - Journalist - and Paul Burton - Deputy Editor - Of the ‘Western Daily Press’ and the ‘Western Gazette’ for their excellent articles on our Project on 22nd July 2009 ; and also for giving us the origianl articles and permission to put them on the website. Also thanks to Paul for his kind e-mail which was most encouraging for what we have achieved.

Richard Purdon - Journalist - of the ‘Chard & Ilminster News’ for his excellent article as well as original articles and permission to add it to the website.

Between the three papers they have helped to put us on the map.

Mr David Knight, Head Teacher of Tatworth Primary School, for his instant enthusiasm about using the Project as a resource for his school-children in their Friday Club yesterday, 29th June 2009.

Colin Pike for donating poly-tunnel frames and loads of home-grown cabbage and other plants, and also for a LOT of very helpful advice - including using red paint around the crops to frighten away the pigeons!

Keith Menadue of Pump International Ltd in Camborne, Cornwall for supplying us with a £24.00 hand pump which fills up our 425 litre / 90 gallon water butts from the well ..... and for sending us a modification to the pump for our special requirements FREE! He is involved with several Transition Sites in Cornwall and Devon and has been producing crops sustainably for 30 years. He's given us lots of advice about no-dig solutions and we look forward to seeing his presentation soon. www.pumpinternational.com or phone 01209 831937

Phil Hounsell of Hounsell of Harding in Chard who gave me all his blue water piping - essential for getting water out of our well. For a quality Builder ring 07977 486843.

Liz and Peter Rosser of Belle Vue Terrace for the hose-piping which started off our original siphoned water supply - which we still use extensively.

Pam Bailey for her hose-piping which enabled us to extend even further.

John Luce for introducing us to the Mattock from his experiences in Africa where they use nothing else if they are poor, showing me how to use a sickle and quietly showing us how ‘it should be done’ without any lectures!

Anne Cambridge of Belle Vue Terrace for providing tea and bickies when ever we demand! And also all the Tomato plants, Sweet Pea plants, weeding, etc., etc., and for respite from the work whenever we need it!

Luke Barratt for organising and getting delivered the now essential Portacabin, as well as loads of other help; and being available on the phone when we've needed his advice.

Swiss Tulle for donating huge swathes of fine-mesh reject netting which have saved our crops from the birds and butterflies.

And many others to follow - especially the Volunteers !
