Tatworth Community Crop Production Project

   Local School Involvement

Mr David Knight, Head Teacher of Tatworth Primary School, came to look at the Project on Monday 29th June to see if it was a suitable asset for his Friday Club school-children.

He recommended to the Governors' meeting on Thursday 2nd July that they accept the proposal that the school-children become involved in the Project and create their own crop area. The Governors did - unanimously - and that says a big thank you to us for our hard work! We're very grateful.

The education opportunities for the next generation inherent with this unique Project are boundless and so we are very grateful to have a local community school behind us.

Andrew is already preparing a 10 x 3 metre raised-bed plot of land for them and we look forward to their involvement. Birdsong and kids voices - great!

The inaugural ‘first visit’ by the school-children was on Friday afternoon 3rd July and they and their Teachers seemed very enthusiastic. Just wait to see their faces when we have solar panels and electric pumps, a wind turbine, ground-water heat pump - for the greenhouse Andrew is seeking - and an anaerobic digester, for compost for us and methane for J B Wheaton's truck fleet!

Pictures and details on the way soon.

An assessment of the risks to the children from THEIR eye-level has been carried out by my friend Nick Parsons for Mr Knight, and many quickly solvable problems raised. These problems will be sorted out within one week! That is by Sunday 12th July, promise!
