Julia putting very stinky nettle manure onto the latest cleared area - where the shallots were grown - and splashing it all over face, top and skirt ! She didn't bat an eyelid !

The extent of the new cleared area showing where the compost heap used to be - 15 tonnes of it !

The new site for composting - behind the apple tree and beside the stream.

We're going to build a huge compost bin around it - 7 x 4 metres and 3 metres high !

The school pit - our raised bed area for Tatworth's Friday Club, full of nice rotting veggie matter !
2233
Julia's design - first the ‘herbal activator’ - nettle manure, watering it in with water from the well, and finally covering the undug soil with the Spar shop's cardboard boxes and stones to weigh it all down.

It's an experiment to see how non-animal manures compare to the horse manure going into the old potato patch.

As we were removing the last tonne of compost to the new area Joe and I came across a grass snake - about 60cm (2ft) long. It was a male which was fat with a frog inside it. It promptly disgorged the poor ..... realising its life was in danger .....

..... but not here because every creature we displace ..... 2244
..... will end up with a new home in the wildlife conservation area where it will be totally left alone. 2254
Freedom and safety! It was only in captivitiy for the minimum of time - the kids should see such a beautiful creature.

That's part of the ‘reason for being’ of this Project - save all the creatures and maintain a healthy balance for humans to survive.
